I personally never expected to be in the papers. The height of my ambition for these books was, well frankly, to get reviewed. A lot of children’s books don’t even get reviewed. — J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter

Blood Status: Half-Blood
Patronus: Stag
Wand: Holly, eleven inches, phoenix feather
House: Gryffindor
Occupation: Head Of The Auror Office
Boggart: Dementor

Harry James Potter (b. July 31, 1980) was a half-blood wizard, the only child and son of James Potter and Lily Potter née Evans, and one of the most famous wizards in modern times. He was also one of the most famous students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry of his time. He was the only known survivor of the Killing Curse, having had Lord Voldemort attempt to murder him when he was an infant, which led to Voldemort’s first defeat and the end of the First Wizarding War, as well as to the orphaned Harry being taken in by his Muggle relatives, the Dursleys.

At the age of eleven, Harry learned from Rubeus Hagrid, the Hogwarts Gamekeeper, that he was a wizard. He began attending Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor house. While at school, Harry became best friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Furthermore, he became the youngest Seeker in over a century and eventually captain of his house’s Quidditch team, winning two Quidditch Cups as part of the team.[10] Harry made many great accomplishments during his early years, such as protecting the Philosopher’s Stone from Voldemort and saving Ginny Weasley from the Chamber of Secrets. In his fourth year, Harry won the Triwizard Tournament, though the competition ended in tragedy with the death of Cedric Diggory and the return of Lord Voldemort. The following school year, Harry started Dumbledore’s Army and fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, during which he lost his godfather, who was like a father to him.

Harry played a significant role in many other battles of the Second Wizarding War and hunted down and destroyed Voldemort’s various Horcruxes with Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. During the Battle of Hogwarts, he witnessed many deaths, including those of Severus Snape and Fred Weasley. He encountered Voldemort and sacrificed himself, knowing the only way to destroy the piece of Voldemort’s Soul that was inside him was to sacrifice himself. However, he did not die; he dueled Voldemort one last time, and defeated the Dark Lord. After the war, Harry became an Auror and married his best friend Ron’s younger sister, Ginny Weasley, with whom he had three children: James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. He had felt the effects of the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse several times. He was also hit by the Killing Curse twice, but managed to survive both times. Harry is also notable for being the only known Master of Death having united the three Deathly Hallows.

Hermione Granger

Blood Status: Muggle-Born
Patronus: Otter
Wand: Vine, 10¾”, dragon heartstring
House: Gryffindor
Occupation: Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures & Department of Magical Law Enforcement
Boggart: Failure

Hermione Jean Weasley (née Granger), born September 19, 1979[2], was the daughter of Muggles Mr. and Mrs. Granger. She learned, at the age of eleven, that she was a witch and had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She began attending the school on September 1st 1991, when she was eleven, almost twelve, and was sorted into Gryffindor House.

An academically brilliant student, Hermione became best friends with fellow students Harry Potter and Ron Weasley in her first year of school. When they first met on the Hogwarts Express, Ron and Harry thought of her as obnoxious and self-centered, a belief that she only furthered as the school year went on, besting them in every class. However, when Ron and Harry saved her from a troll, she took the blame for them and became their friend. In her second year, Hermione was one of the victims of the Basilisk that was unleashed upon Hogwarts with the opening of the Chamber of Secrets, but recovered from being petrified. The next year, Hermione was given permission to use a Time-Turner to facilitate her attending more classes than other students, and which she and Harry later used to save Sirius Black from receiving the Dementor’s Kiss, and Buckbeak the Hippogriff from certain death. Hermione became an advocate for the better treatment of house-elves, forming the association S.P.E.W., in her fourth year. In 1995, she was the driving force behind the creation of Dumbledore’s Army, and fought in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries in 1996, and in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower and the Battle over Little Whinging in 1997. Hermione, as well as Ron, decided to forgo their last year of school in order to accompany Harry on his quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes, and later fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, and survived the war.

Following the Second Wizarding War, Hermione went back to Hogwarts to complete her education, and later attained employment at the Ministry of Magic, furthering her cause for the better treatment of house-elves before gaining promotion to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She eventually married Ron, and they would have two children: A daughter called Rose as well as a son named Hugo. Hermione is also the godmother to James Sirius Potter, who is the eldest child and son of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley.

Ronald Bilius “Ron” Weasley (b. March 1, 1980) was a pure-blood wizard and the sixth son of Molly and Arthur Weasley. He is also the younger brother of Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred and George, and the elder brother of Ginny.

Ron began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991 and was sorted into Gryffindor house. He soon became best friends with fellow student Harry Potter and later Hermione Granger. Together, they faced many challenges during their adolescence, including keeping the Philosopher’s Stone from Quirinus Quirrell, saving Ron’s sister from the Chamber of Secrets, forming Dumbledore’s Army, and fighting in numerous battles of the Second Wizarding War, including the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and the Battle over Little Whinging. Ron also became a Gryffindor Prefect and a Keeper on the Gryffindor Quidditch team during his school years. He skipped his last year of school in order to accompany Harry and Hermione on a quest to destroy the Horcruxes of Lord Voldemort and fought in the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, in which he lost his brother, Fred, a loss by which he was devastated.

After the war, Ron, along with Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom, joined the Aurors at the invitation of Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt, in order to track down Death Eaters who escaped capture[6]. Eventually, he went to work at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes with his brother George[7]. He and Hermione eventually married and had two children: A daughter named Rose and a son named Hugo Weasley. Ron is also the godfather to James Sirius Potter, his sister Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter’s eldest child and son.

Albus Dumbledore

Blood Status: Half-Blood
Patronus: Phoenix
Wand: 15″, Elder, Thestral tail hair core
House: Gryffindor
Occupation: Headmaster Of Hogwarts
Boggart: Corpse Of His Sister Arianna

Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore (Summer[3] 1881 – June 1997) was the Transfiguration Professor, Deputy Head and later Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Order of Merlin, First Class; Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, and Grand Sorcerer. He was a half-blood wizard, the son of Percival and Kendra Dumbledore, and the elder brother of Aberforth and Ariana. His father died in Azkaban when Dumbledore was young, while his mother and sister were later accidentally killed. His early losses greatly affected him early on, even at his death, but in turn made him a better person. Albus Dumbledore was considered to be the most powerful wizard of his time. He was most famous for his defeat of Gellert Grindelwald, the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon’s blood, and his work on alchemy with Nicolas Flamel.

It was through Dumbledore that resistance to the rise of Lord Voldemort was formed, as it was he who founded and led both the first and second Order of the Phoenix. Due to the fact that he had a keen mind and legendary power, Dumbledore became the only wizard that Voldemort ever feared. He was the master of the Elder Wand from 1945 until 1997 and considered by many as the greatest Headmaster to ever grace Hogwarts. As he was about to die by a cursed ring, he planned his own death with Severus Snape. Though he was no longer alive at the time, it was through Dumbledore’s machinations that Voldemort was ultimately defeated and peace restored to the wizarding world. He is the only Headmaster that was laid to rest at Hogwarts. Albus Dumbledore’s portrait still remains at Hogwarts.

Boggart: Unknown

Sirius Black III (c. 1959[1] – June 17, 1996), also known as Padfoot, was a pure-blood wizard, son of Orion and Walburga Black and elder brother of Regulus. Although he was the heir of the House of Black, Sirius disagreed with his family’s belief in blood purity and defied tradition when he was sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which he attended from 1971 to 1978. As Sirius’s relationship with his relatives deteriorated, he gained great friendship in James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. The four friends, also known as the Marauders, joined the Order of the Phoenix to fight against Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters during the First Wizarding War. Sirius also became the godfather of Harry Potter, son of James and Lily Evans. However, Peter betrayed James and his family to Voldemort, and Sirius was framed for the murder of James and Lily Potter, as well as the murder of Peter Pettigrew and twelve Muggles Pettigrew killed during his escape.

Sirius was sent to Azkaban for twelve years, eventually becoming the only known person to escape the prison unassisted by transforming into his Animagus form of a massive black dog. Sirius exposed Pettigrew’s treachery to his old friend Remus and his godson. After Lord Voldemort returned in 1995, Sirius rejoined the Order. He was killed by his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. He briefly appeared again through the Resurrection Stone for Harry, along with James, Lily and Remus in 1998.

Severus Snape

Blood Status: Pure-Blood
Patronus: Doe
Wand: Unknown
House: Slytherin
Occupation: Potions Master, Defence Against The Dark Arts Teacher & Headmaster At Hogwarts
Boggart: Unknown

Professor Severus Snape (January 9, 1960 – May 2, 1998) was Potions master (1981–1996), Defence Against the Dark Arts professor (1996–1997 school year), and Headmaster (1997–1998 school year) of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Snape played an important role in the war against Voldemort, though he did so covertly and at great personal risk.

He was a half-blood wizard, born to Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape. Severus was raised in the Muggle dwelling of Spinner’s End where he was in close proximity to Lily and Petunia Evans. Severus fell deeply in love with Lily at a very young age. In 1971 he began his first term at Hogwarts where he was sorted into Slytherin. Severus became the immediate enemy of James Potter and Sirius Black and was a frequent victim of their bullying. Snape developed a passion for the Dark Arts and pure-blood supremacy, despite his love for Lily, a Muggle-born. Both put his friendship with Lily under strain. After leaving school he joined the Death Eaters along with a large group of his fellow Slytherins.

After Lily Evans was killed by Lord Voldemort, Snape changed sides and became a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and double agent during the Second Wizarding War. With tremendous difficulty, he was able to prevent Lord Voldemort from learning the truth about Severus’s true loyalty. Despite the opinons of most others, Albus Dumbledore trusted Severus for reasons no one could seem to figure out. Those reasons would eventually be revealed to be Severus’s deep love for Lily Evans. Dumbledore also planned his own death with Snape. After Lord Voldemort’s control of Hogwarts, Severus promised Dumbledore that, after his death, he would protect the students at Hogwarts. Snape participated at the Battle of Hogwarts, and was killed by Lord Voldemort, because Snape was thought to be the master of the Elder Wand. Severus Snape’s portrait still remains at Hogwarts.

Draco Malfoy

Blood Status: Pure-Blood
Patronus: None
Wand: Hawthorn, 10″, unicorn hair
House: Slytherin
Occupation: Unknown
Boggart: Unknown

Draco Malfoy (b. June 5, 1980) was a pure-blood wizard and the only son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. The son of a Death Eater, Draco was raised to believe strongly in the importance of blood purity. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1991 to 1998 and was sorted into Slytherin house. During his years at Hogwarts, he became friends with Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, Pansy Parkinson and other fellow Slytherins, while he was the enemy of Harry Potter. He was made a Prefect for his house and was a member of the Inquisitorial Squad during his fifth year, at the end of which his father was imprisoned in Azkaban following the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. Lord Voldemort charged Draco with making up for Lucius’s failure, and he became a Death Eater at age sixteen, but was quickly disillusioned with the lifestyle. Draco was unable to complete his task — assassinating Albus Dumbledore, which was taken over by Severus Snape — and only performed his other duties fearfully and reluctantly. He and his family defected before the end of the Second Wizarding War, and thus avoided imprisonment in Azkaban followin
g Voldemort’s defeat. Draco eventually married Astoria Greengrass and had at least one child, Scorpius Malfoy.

Lord Voldemort // Tom Marvolo Riddle

Blood Status: Half-Blood
Patronus: None
Wand: 13½”, Yew, phoenix feather core
House: Slytherin
Occupation: Former Assitant At Borgin & Burks
Boggart: His Own Corpse

Tom Marvolo Riddle (December 31, 1926 – May 2, 1998), later known as Lord Voldemort, was the most powerful Dark Wizard of all time. He was a half-blood wizard, son of Tom Riddle Sr., a wealthy muggle who abandoned his wife, and Merope Gaunt, who died shortly after childbirth. He was born and raised in a muggle orphanage, but eventually attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Slytherin house. An exceedingly handsome, polite and popular orphan, Tom Riddle was once thought to be the most talented pupil to ever walk through the doors of Hogwarts. To the school at large he presented the respectable face of a student like any other. In reality, however, Riddle was cruel, sadistic, manipulative and power hungry. Having achieved outstanding grades in every examination he took, Riddle left Hogwarts and went on to a brief employment at Borgin and Burkes, before disappearing from public view completely.

Having embraced the seductive Dark Arts he encountered in his travels, the former Tom Riddle, now known exclusively as Lord Voldemort, raised an enormous army comprised of followers he recruited both at school and afterwards, as well as many dark creatures. This army, known as the Death Eaters began a campaign of terror and violence never before seen in Britain. After hearing half of a prophecy referring to a single being with the power to destroy him, Voldemort set off to kill Harry Potter, to whom he believed the prophecy referred. After murdering Harry’s parents, Lily and James, Voldemort turned his wand upon the boy. However, due to Lily Potter’s loving sacrifice, Voldemort’s curse rebounded upon him and his body was destroyed. Stripped of his power, Voldemort fled to a far flung forest in Albania, to await the day when he could regain a body and return to power. After thirteen years of waiting that day would finally arrive, and with the use of Potter’s own blood, the Dark Lord rose again.

Although he initially lay low, Voldemort was soon forced into the open, and began his bloody conquest of the wizarding world anew. After two years of constant warfare, Voldemort finally gained control of the Ministry of Magic, and ruled relatively unopposed, save for a few pockets of resistance. Despite his hold over the country, Voldemort was still unsatisfied, as he had yet to remove the danger the prophecy presented to him. After learning of Potter’s location, Voldemort set out to destroy the boy once and for all launching his entire amassed force against Hogwarts. Upon arriving at the school, Voldemort was met by a full scale rebellion of Hogwarts staff and students, along with the members of the Order of the Phoenix and the residents of Hogsmeade. As the battle progressed the Death Eaters were driven into the Great Hall, where Voldemort engaged Harry Potter in a duel, and, because all of his Horcruxes were destroyed, Tom Marvolo Riddle was finally killed once and for all.

Tom Riddle’s soul was then trapped in limbo, unable to move on or return as a ghost.
